The following is an advanced look into the Gamescom 2014 award process:
The Gamescom award 2014 is entering its final phase: an international jury of experts has now announced the best new games in 13 categories from a total of 140 submissions. They all go forward to the race for the Gamescom award 2014 title in their respective categories. In addition to a shot at the coveted award, the nominees can bask in the title ‘nominated for the Gamescom 2014 award’, which is prominently labeled at this year’s Gamescom, 13-17 August, for trade visitors and games fans from around the world to see.
The product nominations also signal the start of the race for first place in the new category ‘Gamescom most wanted consumer award,’ an accolade awarded exclusively by consumers. From August 9 onward, those who are so interested can vote for their favorites on the Gamescom Facebook page where the nominated games will be published. Kiosks with mobile devices and a voting tool are also to be found at Gamescom itself – including in Hall 10.2. Voting for the ‘Gamescom most wanted consumer award’ ends on August 15 (midday). On Friday, August 15, 2014, starting at 06:00 pm on the Let’s play meets Gamescom podium in Hall 10.1, it’s then, ‘and the winners are…’.
This is also where the winner in the most coveted ‘best of Gamescom’ category will be announced. The expert jury will select the ‘best of Gamescom’ from among the winners of the Gamescom awards in the individual categories.
